A calendar of tourist events in Uzbekistan has been replenished with another major cultural event.
On May 13-14, Surkhandarya region will host the international folklore festival "Boysun bahori" — "Boysun spring".
This initiative was first put forward by President Shavkat Mirzieev in November last year during a meeting in Surkhandarya region in the framework of his pre-election campaign.
In 2001, Boysun district was included in the UNESCO list of "Masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity".
Ritual songs and dances, storytelling storytellers live here with natural life without expecting the visiting tourists.
At the end of May 2002, the region hosted the first open folk festival "Boysun spring”, which brought together folk artists from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The audience saw and heard ceremonial songs and dances, touched the magnificent skill of the narrators-akyns – the custodians of legends and traditions.
This year the festival intends to continue its activities and is waiting for guests.
The festival "Boysun spring" will bring together participants from a dozen countries around the world, scholars and lovers of folklore, who wish to travel back in time to experience life in a distinctive region, keeping the memory of the culture and life of ancient peoples.
